Delete your Money Actually account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time. This page explains how, and what happens.
How to delete
- Sign in at moneyactually.app
- Open Settings
- Choose Delete account
- Type DELETE, then confirm it is you — with your password, or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, by opening the one-time link we email you
What gets deleted
- Bank connections. Every connection is removed at Plaid, our data provider, so no further data is retrieved.
- Financial data. Account balances, transaction history, net worth history, budgets, categories, and rules.
- Personal information. Email address, profile, and sign-in credentials.
Timing and retention
Deletion happens immediately. Bank connections are removed first, then your data is erased.
We retain two minimal records. First, that a deletion occurred — a timestamp and the request outcome. Second, that you agreed to connect a bank: the date, the purpose, and which version of the disclosure you were shown. Neither contains financial data, and both are kept because being able to prove consent was given is the point of recording it. Backups are overwritten on a rolling 30-day cycle.
Before you delete
If you subscribed here, on this website, deleting your account cancels your subscription automatically. You will not be billed again.
If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play instead, cancel it in that store separately — a store subscription is held by the store, and we genuinely cannot cancel it for you.
You may want to export your transactions to CSV first, from Settings.
